Introduction | Transmission of the master angle
290 Firmware 1.37 - 09/2006 L
12.1.3 Transmission of the master angle
The master value/angle can be transmitted via the following transmission media:
r Digital frequency
r System bus (CAN)
r ETHERNET Powerlink (in preparation)
The suitable bus medium is selected according to the criteria listed in the following
sections:
Digital frequency (simulation of an incremental encoder)
r Rail or cascade structure is possible.
r Only relative master value/master angle possible.
r Max resolution 16 bits/revolution
r Cable length is virtually unlimited but must not exceed 50 m from drive to drive.
r Digital frequency extension module is required.
System bus (CAN)
r No cascade structure possible.
r Optionally absolute or relative master angle transfer possible.
r Resolution up to 28 bits/revolution (in preparation; currently 16 bits/revolution).
r Cable length is limited (dependent on baud rate, number of nodes and cable cross-
section).
– With a baud rate of 500 Kbit/s the total cable length is limited to e.g. 117 metres.
r Interface of 9400 HighLine is already integrated.
System bus "CAN on board"
(C 134)
ETHERNET Powerlink (in preparation)
r Rail or cascade structure is possible.
r Optionally absolute or relative master angle transfer possible.
r Resolution up to 28 bits/revolution.
r Cable length is virtually unlimited but must not exceed 100 m from drive to drive.
r Additional hardware (communication module ETHERNET Powerlink) is required.
Note!
For detailed information about the CANopen system bus interface, please see
the "CAN on-board 9400" Communication Manual.
