➞Start Calculation Start automat ic calculation of connection segments.
• Before the calculation, it is checked whether the input data
are correct. Overlapping segments, v ertical segments or
segments with t he same position on the master axis but a
different slave position are not permitted.

➞Point Acceleration
Change the acceleration value of a point object.
• Position the mouse pointer above a point object on the
worksheet and click the left mouse button. A dialog box
opens in which you can select the acceleration.
• If the point is connected to polynomials, their shape
changes as you change the acceleration.
Turning points
Turning points have the specific feature that although the location of the point in the master slave
coordinate system and the velocity are known (v=0), the acceleration is unknown. In Cam Designer you
can either specify the acceleration manually or let t he system calculate the acceleration automatically.
• Check Selfadjusting Acceleration in the Properties dialog to allow automatic calculation of
acceleration. Cam Designer calculates the acceleration value such that the polynomial curves
which are connected to the turning point have t he same jolt value (third derivation of the
position). This results in the best possible acceleration curve.
• In some cases, it may be necessary to adjust the automatically calculated acceleration.
Undershoot or overshoot may occur with strongly asymmetrical flanks. If you disable
Selfadjusting Acceleration in the Properties dialog, you can select the required acceleration
manually.
